A recent study shows: the additional intake of high-dosage vitamin E to support pain management makes sense

According to medical experts, osteoarthritis patients can optimally supplement the non-steroidal anti-rheumatic (NSAR) medication taken to relieve pain with high-dosage vitamin E. This is one of the results of a recent case series1 which investigated the efficacy and tolerance of vitamin E for patients with osteoarthritis in the knee and hip joints.
In total, 151 patients took part in the study for a period of twelve weeks. One group of 87 participants was treated with vitamin E (500 international units, I.U. per day) and the other group of 64 participants was treated with a combination of vitamin E (500 I.U. per day) and a pain reliever. Remarkably, both forms of treatment successfully reduced the acute experience of pain.
However, from the patients’ point of view, the combination therapy had a slight edge over the monotherapy in terms of efficacy (monotherapy 39 per cent, combination therapy around 50 per cent pain reduction) – at the same time, due to the use of vitamin E, the need for pain relievers and thus the total risk of side effects declined. Nevertheless, around 90 per cent of doctors and patients rated the tolerance of the combination therapy as “very good” for this reason.
Enhanced tolerance combined with uniform efficacy: a good reason for supplementing traditional pain management for osteoarthritis in the knee and hip joints with high-dosage vitamin E in the form of one Optovit fortissimum 500 capsule per day.
